Requesting approvals
How to request approval for a document
In the video example below, we are logged in as a normal user who does not have approval rights. This means the user can request approval but cannot approve documents themselves.

Checking Document Approval Rights
If a document has already been approved in the past (e.g., Issue 2 of a press release), you will see an "Approve Issue" button on the document details page. However, since the user lacks approval rights, they must assign an approver.
Selecting an Approver
To request approval:
- Choose an appropriate approver from the list of eligible users.
- Add them to the list of approvers.
- Leave a comment for the approver (this is a best practice to provide context).
- Optionally, set a deadline for the approval request.
Notifying Approvers
Once the request is set up:
- You can notify additional users about the approval request by adding them to the notification list.
- These users will receive an email informing them that document approval is in progress.
Submitting the Approval Request
After selecting the approver(s) and setting notifications:
- Click "Request Approval" to submit the request.
- The document details page will now show that there is an outstanding approval request.
- Approvers will receive an email prompting them to review and approve the document.
