This article explains how to access the System Importer plugin and use a category Structure File to add to your existing Cognidox categories. It also explains how to add a single sub-category, and change the displayed sort order.
Note: You can only add categories and sub-categories using this method. You can't delete or move categories this way (other knowledge base articles deal with this).

Importing a new category structure
You can add multiple categories and sub-categories by importing a structure file.

To import multiple categories/sub-categories:
- From the Cognidox home page, open the Cognidox Categories portlet and click Import structure.
- Download, edit and save one of the provided Structure files. (You can only add new entries. If you rename or delete lines in the file, Cognidox will ignore those changes on import.)
- Drag and drop your save file onto the Structure File field and click Upload Structure File.
Adding a single sub-category
In this section we'll explain how to use the Manage Category option to add a single sub-category. We'll also change the sort order of the sub-category.

To do this:
- In your target sub-category, click Manage this Category and display the Sub-Categories tab.
- Enter a sub-category name, a subtitle (which can be used to Search for categories).
- If you want the new sub-category to be sorted in a different way from the default (i.e. alphabetically by name), enter something in the Sort order name field. There's more in this help topic.
- Click Add Sub-Category.
